Hi Everyone,
So I don't know about you guys but at least where I live the weather has gotten so cold. With the winter months come drier looking skin. Today I have decided to share my tips in order to keep your skin hydrated and moist during the winter months.
1) Moisturize! Moisturize! Moisturize! Moisturizing your skin is very important to prevent dry skin. I usually moisturize my skin twice a day, once after showering and once before I go to bed. A moisturizer after shower really helps lock in the mostuirze as your body is still moist. During the winter months I prefer using a body butter instead of a regular lotion on my body as body butters have a thicker consistency.
2) Take cold showers! I know this is super hard especially in the winter months, but hot showers tend to dry out the skin further.
3) Pat don't rub! Whenever you finish washing your face or you come out of the shower make sure to pat your towel when during your body. The patting motion kicks in the moisture whereas rubbing the towel on your skin stops your body of the essential oils.
4) Don' forget to drink water! We have all heard this a million times, but that is because it so important. Drinking water is the key to hydration and moisture. Make sure you drink about 6-8 glasses of water daily.
5) Limit exfoliation! Exfoliation is important to remove dead skin cells form the face and body. However remember to go easy with the exfoliation. Over exfoliation can have a counter effect of during the skin.
6) Get a humidifier! A humidifier will keep the air moist and retain back moisture levels in your skin.
7) Eat well! Don't forget to have a balanced diet. Fruits are especially healthy for keeping your body hydrated. The juices from the berries help hydrate your body and they contain antioxidants/vitamin c that help protect the skin.
